TikTok Design Trends – February 2025

Experts from NellyRodi’s Home Department share the latest TikTok trends from this month. Take a look at what’s inspiring our interiors right now:

Chasing Scandinavian kitchen style

Balancing the desire to show off their kitchens with a touch of humor, TikTok creators are removing their cabinet doors, and the result is a more or less successful Scandinavian style. The trend offers a new way to stage interiors (similar to fridgescaping or decorating the inside of one’s fridge) right down to inside kitchen cabinets.

Some are satisfied with the results and share their tips for best incorporating the trend. But others poke fun at it, share the disastrous outcomes of their attempts or question whether simply removing cabinet doors is enough make a kitchen Scandinavian, a style sometimes too naively reduced to minimalism and simplicity.

Gender norms and interior design

We were already familiar with TikTok’s home decor gendered content, with trends like the boy apartment or girl apartment. Now, couples are also sharing their interiors through the lens of their gender and sexual orientation.

They’re showcasing the details of their boy & boy apartment (a gaming setup) or girl & girl apartment (a bathroom filled with beauty products) that celebrate the little details of their shared daily lives, even if it reinforces certain stereotypes. Others, however, present their spaces as a blend of decorative elements that make their respective styles indistinguishable.

A passion for untouched interiors

Design enthusiasts have a new obsession: the traditional interiors of their uncles, aunts or grandparents and the homes they claim haven’t changed in decades.

The trend brings comfort, evokes childhood memories and contrasts with the increasing fashionization, staging and constant need for home makeovers. It’s an ode to a certain simplicity, sparking emotional reactions such as “don’t touch it!” in the comments.
