AUGUST 24 – Louis Vuitton expands into the automotive world with a Singer collaboration
Californian Porsche 911 restoration specialist Singer has teamed up with Louis Vuitton to reimagine two cars. At the heart of the project is a dashboard clock inspired by the Tambour, the Maison’s iconic watch. Louis Vuitton’s heritage craftsmanship thus extends into a new universe. Beyond the two cars and the clock, the Maison has designed a matching collection of luggage, clothing and accessories.
Louis Vuitton is positioning itself as a fully-fledged lifestyle brand, moving beyond the boundaries of the traditional luxury house.

AUGUST 31 – The Metropolitan Museum announces the cancellation of its John Galliano exhibition
After several weeks of tensions, John Galliano withdraws from the Metropolitan Museum and steps away from the exhibition dedicated to him. It would have made him the third designer to receive a retrospective at the Met during his lifetime, following Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 and Rei Kawakubo in 2017.
The controversy centered on the designer’s troubled past: in 2011, he made antisemitic and racist remarks in a Paris café, a scandal that cost him his position at Dior. Although Galliano has since expressed remorse and undertaken a public rehabilitation process, many voices have challenged the legitimacy of such institutional recognition. Faced with mounting pressure, the Met chose to cancel the exhibition.

SEPTEMBER 4 – Julie Kegels wins the LVMH Prize
Belgian designer Julie Kegels has won the 2026 LVMH Prize. A former student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, she stood out from her competitors through her comprehensive and distinctive brand vision. Her ethos is rooted in women’s comfort, without sacrificing the emotion and creativity expressed through her products. She receives €400,000 and one year of LVMH mentoring.

SEPTEMBER 7 – Sabato De Sarno appointed Creative Director of Icicle
Eighteen months after leaving Gucci, Sabato De Sarno joins Icicle, a luxury brand based in Shanghai. He will oversee the development of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, accessories and eyewear, and will present his vision with his first Fall/Winter 2027–2028 collection. Icicle aims to reconnect its customers with nature through its focus on materials and a sustainable aesthetic.
His appointment is part of a recent movement of creative directors joining Chinese brands, including Kim Jones and Kris Van Assche, respectively at the helm of Bosideng and Anta. Securing an internationally renowned designer will allow Icicle to reach a new audience previously unengaged with the brand.

SEPTEMBER 9 – Hublot teams up with Jeff Koons
Swiss watchmaker Hublot has announced a collaboration with Jeff Koons, also naming him a brand ambassador. Known for his “balloon” sculptures, which elevate everyday objects to the status of artworks, Koons embodies a certain vision of popular and spectacular luxury. This collaboration is part of a long series of artistic partnerships initiated by Hublot since 2011, offering new creative perspectives on its watches. The first timepiece will be unveiled in New York in mid-September.
