🗓 6 JUNE 2023: BOUCHERON INTRODUCES ECO-DESIGNED PACKAGING

Fine jewelry house Boucheron has set up a new CSR initiative as part of its global strategy. Seven prototypes of cases have been developed and will soon be launched on the market. They’re made from aluminum and certified wool felt, which are natural, traceable, and recyclable materials. They’re are also twice as light as past cases to facilitate the recycling process. The design is inspired by the 1980s and the famous Place Vendôme. In addition, new gift packaging is in the form of a reusable cotton pouch made from 65% recycled materials.

Boucheron CEO Hélène Poulit-Duquesne states that “No pack is the new pack,” underscoring the house’s commitment to rethink its packaging with a more sustainable and environmentally responsible approach. Boucheron’s objective is to reduce its environmental footprint by 40% by 2025, as part of its engagements in support of sustainable development.

🗓 7 – 30 JUNE 2023: SETCHU WINS THE LVMH AWARD, AND LOUIS GABRIEL NOUCHI TAKES THE ANDAM PRIZE

This June juries of two prestigious international fashion competitions met to deliberate. On 7 June the LVMH Group organized a jury made up of Group directors, creative directors from each house, and two special guests: actress Gal Gadot and musician Xin Liu. Japanese designer Satoshi Kuwata, founder of the Setchu brand, took first prize, receiving a €400,000 cash award and year-long support from LVMH on different strategic topics. The Karl Lagerfeld Prize (second place) was attributed to designer Luca Magliano for his Magliano label and designer Julie Pelipas for her Better label.

On 30 June winners of the ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode) Fashion Awards were announced. Louis Gabriel Nouchi’s LGN brand, founded in 2017 and specializing in menswear, won first prize. ANDAM gave particular praise to the ingenious literary references throughout his collections. Nouchi receives €300,000 as well as special mentoring for a year by Riccardo Bellini, President and CEO of Chloé.

The ANDAM Fashion Awards also included second place prizes: The Special Prize was given to brands Ester Manas and Duran Lantink; the Pierre Bergé Prize went to the Avellano brand; the Ruslan Baginskiy hat label received the Accessories Prize; and the Innovation Prize went to SQIM, a business dedicated to organically created materials as leather alternatives.

🗓 28 JUNE 2023: PACO RABANNE BECOMES RABANNE

The Paco Rabanne house is giving up its founder’s name to become Rabanne. The change was announced during the launch of the “Winter Holiday” collection five months after the death of famous couturier Paco Rabanne. In a press release, the brand explained that the new identity and name reflected the house’s goals of greater simplicity and becoming more international. Nadia Dhouib, Rabanne CEO, stated that the decision to unify the brand’s image under one name was made at the right time.

This rebranding is part of a move to modernize while still respecting the brand’s past and heritage. The new name comes with a new logo and typeface, created in reference to the house’s first signature fragrance, Calandre.

In conjunction with this transformation, Rabanne also announced its entry into the beauty sector with the launch of the makeup line Rabanne Beauty scheduled for 21 August. Makeup artist Diane Kendal, named Global Beauty Creative Director for Rabanne Beauty, brings her expertise to the new adventure.

🗓 5 JULY 2023: A GOLDEN TICKET AT LE ROYAL MONCEAU

For the month of July Le Royal Monceau luxury hotel teams up with Le Cordon Bleu Paris culinary school for an exceptional, experimental collaboration. To celebrate the launch of a new cocktail menu at its Bar Long, Le Royal Monceau has organized a special celebration. An original initiative makes the event even more exciting: a golden ticket was hidden in one of the bar’s check presenters. The lucky recipient wins a coveted session in one of the Le Cordon Bleu’s culinary workshops. Thanks to an exclusive collaboration between two exceptional establishments, the project offers a unique opportunity to explore the pleasures of the gourmet tradition.

This initiative by the Parisian premium hotel shows the growing importance of customer experience in the luxury industry. Going beyond services and special offers, winning customers and creating loyalty now requires giving them meaningful experiences and one-of-a kind events that evoke emotions and leave unforgettable memories.

🗓 6 JULY 2023: GABRIELA HEARST LEAVES CHLOÉ

After serving three years as Creative Director, Gabrielle Hearst has announced her departure from Chloé. Her role with the house was marked by her focus on sustainability and the use of natural and recycled fibers instead of synthetic ones. Thanks to her responsible approach, Chloé became one of the first luxury houses to get involved in sustainable development and the first to earn B Corp certification in 2021. Hearst’s final collection for the label will be shown next September during Paris Fashion Week. The designer now intends to concentrate fully on developing her own eponymous label.

For the moment, Chloé hasn’t revealed the name of her successor. Hearst’s departure represents a new chapter for the brand, which now must find a creative talent to continue its reputation in sustainable fashion.

🗓 20 JULY 2023: LOEWE IS THE MOST DESIRABLE BRAND FOR Q2 2O23

The Lyst digital platform has announced the lineup of the most popular brands for second quarter 2023, with Loewe in first place. The Spanish label, part of the LVMH group, saw spectacular growth, jumping 13 places in only a year. After holding fifth position in the first quarter, Loewe registered a 19% gain in searches and is now considered by Lyst to be the most desirable brand. This outstanding popularity can be attributed in large measure to the creativity and humor of house Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson.

Anderson’s ingenious designs have made their mark, for example high heels with faux eggs instead of heels, trompe l’oeil sweaters with pixelated silhouettes, and the daring use of arums in the SS24 collection. The fact that the brand has also dressed such well known celebrities as Rihanna for her 2023 Super Bowl show and Beyoncé for her Renaissance Tour rocketed the label to the heart of pop culture.

In the same report, Lyst announced Louis Vuitton’s position at number 11. That could change considerably with the arrival of Pharrell Williams as Menswear Creative Director, a possible forecast of the brand’s rise to the top of the list.
