The chef presented his first project, “La Plage du Martinez,” during the opening of the 76th Festival de Cannes.

🗓 11 MAY 2023: COFFEE BECOMES A WATCHMAKER WITH HUBLOT x NESPRESSO

Hublot and Nespresso recently presented Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin, an innovative watch made with recycled coffee capsules.

Since obtaining B Corp certification last year, Nespresso has been committed to developing recycling initiatives, in particular through its Nespresso Second Life program. The program’s goal is to give a second life to used capsules by transforming them into new products.

The Hublot watch’s 42 mm case is made entirely of recycled aluminum, with Nespresso capsules accounting for 28% of that. Recycled capsules were also used for the bezel, crown, and pushers. The watch’s bracelet is made up of 95% recycled polyester and 5% recycled coffee grounds.

🗓 18 MAI 2023: THE 2023 LOEWE CRAFT PRIZE

The 2023 Loewe Craft Prize has been awarded to Japanese ceramics artist Eriko Inazaki for her work “Metanoia.” The Loewe Foundation’s jury was captivated by the work, citing “virtuosity creating a spellbinding presence that commands the exhibition space and inspires wonder.” As part of its mission to support artistic professions, both those that preserve traditional techniques and those that take innovative directions, the Loewe Foundation presented a €50,000 prize to Inazaki.

Her piece, along with those of the other 2023 Craft Prize finalists, will be shown for a month at the Noguchi Museum in New York, giving visibility to the artists and exposure to artistic professions.

🗓 22 MAI 2023: STEFANO GALLICI REPLACES LUDOVIC DE SAINT SERNIN AT ANN DEMEULEMEESTER

Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s first collection for Ann Demeulemeester was met with great enthusiasm, but unfortunately there won’t be a second collection. The reasons for this abrupt departure haven’t been shared, leaving the fashion industry curious about the details surrounding the decision.

At the beginning of June, Stefano Gallici, who joined the house in 2020, was named Creative Director. He’ll present his first show on 30 September in Paris.

🗓 23 MAI 2023: VERSACE x DUA LIPA

The Italian house has presented its cruise collection designed in collaboration with singer Dua Lipa.

The “La Vacanza” collection, showcased at Cannes during the film festival, is the result of a meeting between the house’s Italian esthetics and the singer’s glamorous stage outfits. On the catwalk, like Barbies come to life, the looks reflected a skillful mix of sensuality and sophistication with a touch of eccentricity.

The ensuing media response was proof of the current power of collaborations between fashion houses and iconic pop culture personalities. In “La Vacanza,” this fusion of influences produced a collection transcending the boundaries between fashion, art, and entertainment.
